BIOGRAPHY: TFG-43-Henry Fassett was a pioneer newspaper man. He was very prominent in civic affairs. The following is from a Memorial to Henry Fassett:
"After the death of his father, he came to Ashtabula with his mother, two sisters and five brothers. He came in 1835 at the age of 18. He attended the Seminary at St. Thomas, Canada, until he was 14 and then was apprentided to the printer's trade in the office of the St. Thomas Journal. Coming to Ashtabula, he worked as aprinter in Painsville and Neward, OH, until 1 Jan. 1837 when he became the owner of the Ashtabula Sentinal. He became Editor and sold the paper in 1853. He served as Probate Judge, Revenue Collector, organized and was president of the National Bank of Ashtabula. He was Director and Secretary of the P.Y. an A. R.R., served on the Board of Education, and conducted an extensive fire, real estate and insurance "business for over 50 years. He served the Home Insurance Co. of New York."
