Paul Fassett
Paul FASSETT, 16, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Leroy FASSETT of Highland
formerly of Rochester, was killed in a two-car accident at midnight
Friday on U.S. 30 in Lake county.
The boy's sister, Barbara [FASSETT], was injured and is in St. Mary's
hospital at Hobart. She is listed as "satisfactory" with a perforarted bowel.
Lake county sheriff's police were unable to give details this morning but
said the crash occurred at U.S. 30 and Ind.51 about 10 miles west of Valparaiso.
The other driver, Jeffrey LYNN, 29, Merrillville, was hospityalized,
Paul's father is the immediate past director of Geneva Center, the Presbyterian
Conference and Camp Center on Old U.S. 31 north of Rochester. The family moved
to Highland last August.
The three Fassett children, Paul, Barbara and Dave [FASSETT], were in Rochester
Friday night to see the play staged by Tri-Epsilon drama club of Rochedster
high school, in which Dave had been active before moving to Highland.
Dave stayed in Geneva Center Friday night; his brother and sister were driving
home when the accident occurred.
The Fassetts reside at 2227 Ridgewood in Highland.
Memorial services for Paul Fassett will be Wednesday morning at the First
United Presbyterian church in Highland, of which the Rev. Fassett is pastor.
The family requests no flowers, but memorial gifts to the church instead.
