SAVANNAH MABEL KNUPPENBURG (1825-?)
Savannah Mabel was born 27 August 1825 in Mehoopany, Wyoming County, PA and died in Beaver City, Nebraska. Savannah married Chandler CHAMPION, son of Henry Champion and Hannah Robinson, on 25 September 1844 in Wyoming County, PA. Chandler was born 28 October 1810 in Pennsylvania and died 30 January 1876. In the 1860 census, this family was living in Windham Township, Wyoming County, PA. Savannah Knuppenburg and Chandler Champion had six children Chandler had previously been married to Abigail Fassett who was born about 1816 in Pennsylvania. They had one son, Charles Fassett Champion, who was born about 1835 in Wyoming County, PA. In the 1860 census, he was living in his father's household at the age of 24 and a shoemaker. He later married Lydia H. Sturdevant (born about 1836 in PA) and had at least four children: Merton N. (born about 1868), Marion A. (born about 1870), Lucy A. (about 1874) and Edmund T. (born about 1876). In the 1880 census, this family was living in Braintrim, Wyoming County, PA.
1. John Francis Champion born 22 June 1845 in Wyoming County, PA. He married Catherine E. HOLLAND who was born about 1842 in PA. They had 5 children: James (born about 1873), Frederick C. (born about 1874) who married Phoebe (maiden name unknown) (born about 1878 in PA) and had at least two daughters: Cora A. (born about 1906) and Kathryn (born about 1909), Earnest (born about 1876), George (born about 1878), Blanche S. (born August 1879),
2. Wilmot Chandler Champion born 28 November 1846 in Wyoming County, PA. He married Elsie A. LOTT who was born about 1851 in PA. In the 1880 census they had two daughters: Bertha E. (born about 1873 in Pennsylvania) and Anna S. (born about 1878in Pennsylvania). They were living in Spring Green, Furnas County, Nebraska in 1880.
3. Lucy Eveline Champion born 26 June 1848 in Wyoming County, PA. She married Edgar M. PRESTON.
4. Miles Adam Champion born 12 September 1850 in Wyoming County, PA. He married Harriett Lenora GAY who was born 13 February 1853 in Pennsylvania. They had a daughter named Edna Emogene Champion (born 30 December 1879 in Wyoming County, PA).
5. Clement Wesley Champion born 22 September 1852 in Wyoming County, PA. He married Jessie H. STURDEVANT who was born September 1859 in PA. They had two children: Charles R. born Sept 1881 in PA and Pearl S. born Dec 1883 in PA.
6. Mary Eliza Champion born 1 December 1854 in Wyoming County, PA. She married John S. GRAVES.
