[4855] BIOGRAPHY: From Obit - Steven was born Jan. 19, 1949, in Windham Township, Wyoming County, at the home of his grandparents, Helen and Clyde Farr, son of Wheaton Fassett and Daisy Farr Fassett. His great-aunt, Sadie Grow helped bring him into this world. Steve graduated from the Tunkhannock High School, class of 1966, and entered the United States Marine Corps in July of 1966. He served in Vietnam and was discharged in October 1969. Steve was employed by GTE Sylvania (Osram) of Towanda until his illness forced him to retire. As a member of the Penn-York Detachment Marine Corps League, he would travel on free weekends to the Bath, N.Y., V.A. Hospital to assist the patients in an outdoor event. He also enjoyed overwhelmingly the Christmas trips to the hospital with the League to provide the patients with gifts and homemade goodies. The annual outing at Hornbrook Park, Veterans Appreciation Day was a must for Steve. Until 1993, he was there from start to finish. In 1993, he was a guest. In 1994 he was unable to attend. Steve was also bowler on several teams; was a great slow pitch pitcher playing on local teams; and a great participant in the dart leagues. Steve was also a member of Post 996, American Legion, Dushore, Pa.; Mehoopany V.F.W. Post 3583, and B.P.O.E Lodge 29191, Towanda.
