BIOGRAPHY: Obit-She worked most of her life on the family farm, Lime Springs, in East Springfield,
and later resided in Mohawk. She was a nursing assistant and cook at Homestead Nursing Home.
Before retiring, she was a home health aide for Herkimer County Catholic Services.

for many years, for the Otsego, Herkimer, Montgomery (OHM) Club. She was a member of
Springfield Grange, East Springfield, and the Ladies Aide Society of First Presbyterian Church,
East Springfield.

Gertrude B. Fassett
EAST SPRINGFIELD — Ms. Gertrude B. Fassett, 75, formerly of East Springfield
and Mohawk passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa,
after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 11, 1925, in Germany, the daughter of Otto and Marie Buchmeier.
She worked most of her life on the family farm, Lime Springs, in East Springfield,
and later resided in Mohawk. She was a nursing assistant and cook at Homestead Nursing Home.
Before retiring, she was a home health aide for Herkimer County Catholic Services.
Gertrude enjoyed working with the youth as a 4-H leader. She was the secretary,
for many years, for the Otsego, Herkimer, Montgomery (OHM) Club. She was a member of

She is survived by four sons, Leon Fassett of Beloit, Wis., Dean Fassett of Ballston Spa,
Ivan Fassett of Springfield Center and Gary Fassett of Visalia, Calif.; a daughter,
Joan Buchinski of Jermyn, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters,
Jean Hall of Saratoga Springs and Ann Weeks of Missoula, Mont.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley,
with the Rev. Ron Fralick officiating. Burial will be in the Springfield Center Cemetery,
Springfield Center.
Contributions in Gertrude's memory may be made to the Hospice of Saratoga,
179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12871.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
