BIOGRAPHY: TFG-212-Irving James Ames served in the Civil War. He was mustered in at Philadellphia, PA, 25 Aug. 1864 in the Co. B. 38th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was wounded in the battle at Fort Harrison and furloughed home. He rejoined his regiment in 1865 and was honorably discharged 12 July 1865. The metal left in his foot from the war wound caused his death in 1926. After the war he worked as a laborer in the building of the Great Northern RR. He sent for his wife and daughter Blanche. It's hard to imagine dainty, refined, Sally Ames riding on a flat car into Columbia Falls, Montana. They were pioneers in Kalispell, MT. Irv and Sally spent their last years in the Soldiers' Home, Columbia Falls, MT. They are buried in the Soldiers' Home Cemetery.
