BIOGRAPHY: TFG-72-Gardner Smith Fassett, son of Alvin and Annie Butler Fassett was for many years a merchant in Shelton, VT, but the last twenty years were spent on a farm. He attended Oberlin Preparatory School. At age 21 he worked at the carpenter's trade. His present farm comprising of 128 acres, is devoted to general agriculture, dairying, and the staple product of maple sugar. He was a member of the State Board of Agriculture form 1874 to 1879. He became allied with the Prohibition Party and ran for several offices including Senator, Judge of Probate, and Lieutenant Governor. In 1890 he was elected as a trustee of the U. of Vermont and State Agricultural College.
