Mr. Robert W. (Daddy Bob) Fassett, age 75, formerly of Meshoppen, PA,
passed away on Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at his home in Oil Springs, Ontario, Canada.
Bob was born in Meshoppen on May 1, 1927, a son of the late Loyd E. and Freda E. Teetsel Fassett.
Robert graduated from the Meshoppen High School in the Class of 1945.
After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the Yorktown Air Carrier during World War II.
Daddy Bob was dedicated to his family and friends. He enjoyed farming, fishing and
gardening. His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was the joy of his life.
Bob was engaged in farming for several years in the Meshoppen area. He was
also employed by Sire Power in Tunkhannock for many years.
Robert is survived by his wife, the former Christine Evon Fassett, of Oil Springs,
Ontario, Canada. He was the dear father of two sons and their wives,
Daniel and Lyssa Fassett of Massachusetts and
Willard and Lucy Fassett of Tennessee; a daughter, Karen Harrell of Florida;
his stepchildren and their spouses, Kolleen and Ron Carroll of Laceyville,
Frank and Kim McIntire of Meshoppen, Carmen and Eric Eberlin of Laceyville,
Jim and Wendy Evon of Coronna, Canada and Carrie and Chris Baxter of Sombra, Canada;
a dear brother, Donald Fassett of California and a dear sister,
Janet Young of Tunkhannock. Daddy Bob is also survived by his 14 grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wives,
Violet Elliot of Florida and Sharon Carter Fassett of Meshoppen.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son,
Bobby and an infant daughter, Swan; a granddaughter, Wreath Rose Bishop;
a sister, June Atti and a brother, Hank Robinson.
A remembrance service in honor of the life and memory of Robert W. (Daddy Bob) Fassett
will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 4 p.m. from the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church,
with Rev. Kathy Pierce of the church, officiating. Burial services will take place at a later
date in the Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wyoming County Sheep and
Wool Association, c/o Mr. Victor Decker, 1119 Sugar Hollow Road, Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
Arrangements were made through the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Meshoppen.
