BIOGRAPHY: TFG-104-Samuel and his family migrated from Winchester, NH to NY State. He was a Methodist Episcopal minister and served in many parishes in NY State. They lived in Sherburne, NY, Fabius, NY and in Shelby, Orleans Co., NY. In the early 1830's he moved with his family to Sandstone, MI. Mrs. Helen Robinson Haskins of McLean, NY, wrote the following concerning her cousin: "When Samuel in early times went to Michigan from Sherburne, NY, he went by ox team, then by water and later with ox team. He took along, besides his household goods and family, an anvil and fifteen barrels of beans. this seemed so funny to me that I always remember it."

Alexandria, OH (Maple Grove Cem.).77 William: William was a lad of six when his parents emigrated
from Vermont to Ohio to establish their home in Alexandria, Licking Co., Ohio, in 1831. After attending
Granville College (now Denison University), he engaged in teaching for nine years. Then he returned to
agriculture and sheep raising at the Licking County homestead. After his father remarried in 1867, he
remained in sole possession of the Alexandria homestead.

Maple Grove Cem. 12 Clarence F. Castle, the eldest child of William Augustus and Sarah
Fassett Castle, graduated from Denison University and received his Ph.D. at Yale. He
taught at the University of Chicago as Professor of Classics. After the death of his wife,
Mary Shirk, he retired to Florida. They had no children.
ii Albert Aubrey Castle b. Jan 24 1859, Alexandria, Licking, OH, Lawyer, d. Jun 19 1903,
Columbus, OH, bur. Jun 21 1903, Alexandria, Licking, OH. Graduated from Princeton
and U. Cincinnati Law School; practiced in Columbus, however, his health failed and he
died at the State Hospital for the Insane.
iii Edward Howard Castle b. May 28 1865, Alexandria, Licking, OH, Prof, Columbia Teach
Col, d. Mar 10 1929, East Bridgewater, MA.80 Edward H. Castle taught at Columbia
University Teachers College, New York, NY until 1905 when, at age 40, he resigned
because of ill health. After leaving Columbia he operated chicken farms in Massachusetts
for many years.

Wilmington, OH, bur. Bedford Union Cem., Bedford, NY.82 Mary Castle graduated from
Shepardson College (now part of Denison Univ.) where she taught from 1895 to 1897.
Later she joined her mother and her brother Edward at their farm in East Bridgewater,
MA, where she stayed until their death in 1929. She then joined her cousin, Mary Rankin
Clark, in Connecticut. In 1934, after her cousin's death, she and her cousin's husband were
married. Later, after his death in 1939, she went to California and lived with her brother
William in Berkeley. Both William and Mary lived into their 90s and died in 1962.
