died Apr 2 1803, Cambridge, VT. Capt. John Fassett, Jr., was one of the Green Mountain Boys
associated with Ethan Allen. He fought in Warner's regiment during the expeditions of 1774 and 1776
against the British at Montreal. In 1784, he moved to Cambridge, VT. He was a judge on the Vermont
Supreme Court from 1778 to 1786. His signature appeared on currency issued by the Republic of
Vermont in 1781. In 1791, the Republic of Vermont was admitted as the fourteenth state of the United
States.

BIOGRAPHY: TFG-29-John, Jr. was married in Bennington, VT but removed to Cambridge, VT in 1784. He was in the Regiment of Green Mountain Boys which was raised on the advice of Continental Congress in the summer of 1775 for service in Canada. John, Jr. served as Lieutenant and later as Captain. He was quartermaster and hospital commissary. He is well known for his interesting diary kept while in service in Canada. His second diary made on the second trip to Canada containing much valuable military as well as family data was lost when his home burned. He was Judge of Supreme Court 1778-1786. He united with the church 29 Aug. 1765. He served as Representative from Arlington, VT 1778. The Vermont Historical Magazine says "Page upon page could be written on the work of this man."
