TFG-36-Jonathan purchased on 27 Oct. 1773 fifty-five acres of land in Pittsford, VT and built a log house. He then moved his wife and four children form Bennington, VT to Pittsford. The Follett-Dewey Fassett-Safford Ancestry by H.P. Ward says of him, "His name appears frequently in Governor and Council as Captain. He was a delegate several times to the Assebmly from Pittsford and a signer of the Declaration for the cause of Liberty in July 1776." On Feb. 22, 1782 the Board of War recommended "that the fort at Pittsford be removed to Capt. Jonathan Fassett's house. He was one of the early settlers, a large land holder, quite loquacious and took a prominent part int he transaction of public business. He was expelled from the House of Representatives for exciting a riot." He was a tall man, long featured, and had a strong temper. See Patriots' Index D.A.R., Page 230. See History of Pittsford, VT, A. M. Caverly.
A member of the VT General Assembly and was kicked-out in 1787
