[10997] BIOGRAPHY: TFG-259 Samuel, Jr. was a member of the Susquehanna Co. and an early settler in the Wyoming Valley. The Downings too were early settlers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. coming there from Windham Co., Conn. Samuel was a lumberman. He first sold his land in Wilkes-Barre and bought lumberlands near Forkston, Wyoming Co., Pa. In 1805 he and his wife and some of their children migrated on foot to Johnstown, Ohio where their descendants are living today. Both are buried in Johnstown, Ohio.
