BIOGRAPHY: TFG-32-Descendant of Jacob Oswald b. Strasbourg, Alsace, France
TFG-32,33-Charles C. was an Assistant Manager for the Libbey Glass Co. He served as Treasurer of the Ashland Baptist Church and Secretary to the Toledo's Newsboys' Association, forerunner of the present Toledo Boys' Club.
An excerpt from the 1937 Mitch Woodbury, theatrical editor of the Toledo Blade says of him "Grandpaw" Vanderhop in the play "Youd Can't Take It with You" has a counterpart in Toledo. At least the man we have in mind revelsin the sheer joy of living and disregards public opinion to the fullest.
And he is one of the realist, nicest people we know. We refer to Charles Oswald of the Libby Glass Co., the distinguished looking, white haired gentleman you see at every legitimate hteatrical production and on the dance floor of the Commodore Perry's Travertine Room two or three times a week. He is a grandfather and one of Toledo's most fervent theatre lovers, dancing devotee - also a contract bridge and card enthusiast.
