Was a pioneer in Scottsville, having come with his parents from Ct. He was a fine businessman and Justice of the Peace for twenty years, and a commissioned Major in the Militia. He was called Major John Fassett. He kept a store with his sons help, and in 1826 he became the first postmaster. Mail was carried from Tunkhannock to Towanda once a week on horseback. The place was named for Judge David Scott of Wilkes-Barre. A Democrat until the Civil War, then a Republican.

BIOGRAPHY: TFG-123-John was a pioneer in Scottsville, having come with his parents from Connecticut. He was a fine business man, Justice of the Peace for 20 years and a Commissioned Major in the Militia. He was called Major John Fassett. He kept a store, with his son's help and in 1826 became the first Postmaster. Mail was carried from Tunkhannock to Towanda once a week, on horseback. The place was named for Judge David Scott of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Of Sally - "She was an intelligent, kindhearted and hospitable lady, and a devout Christian."
